Pineapple Tarts

Hey peeps... its getting closer to EID.... and I get freak out sometimes thinking how to race with time to get all done in time .... anyway this popular pastry or tangerine cookie is populars amongst Sporean. You can see them almost all the festive season.... Hari Raya, Chinese New Year and also Deepavali. At first I was thinking I had to do about 2500 pcs but finally looked up again the final numbers now 3k...

It reminded me of the time Channel 8 came over to shoot my pineapple tart making...hmmm :)

Puteri Salad

I remembered asking my mum to prepare this many times during my 2nd pregnancy... luv eating it. This is the most popular cakes amongst the Malaccan.... and the nyoya's. Last oct I did a demo of this dessert at Raffles Town club and it was well received by the participants.

I used real pandan juice....
The size of mold I used was 8 x 8 inch.... during ramadhan, I distributed it to my neighbours still got many left....

Diary of Wimpy Birthday Cake

Sabina asked me a few weeks ago if I could do a replica of the book for her son birthday. She wanted a fresh cream cake.... so I have to figure out what is best instead of using fondant.... so I used chocolate instead.

Another cake was for Neel. Transformer with Autobots and Decepticons logo birthday cake

Epok Epok (Malay style curry puff)

Whenever I do this Malay pastry, I will surely remember the good old days when I was young helping my mum doing it. The other day we had this for the break fast.... I thought was a good time to pass the brought down recipe to Yasmine. As ever she is always eager to learn.
A few years back.... when we still sell at it at our cousin stall it was always a sold out pastry.... thanks to mum.
A good way to start... to take care of hygiene and safety first.

Hmmm...these are some of my many cookbooks.... bought local and overseas.... will be passed down to Yasmine someday. I baked my first butter cookies independently at the age of 12 yrs old without supervision.... my mum trusted me with the oven, I guess her judgement was not wrong after all :)

I used to take up 1 shelf but now since my trips to Indonesia.... I keep on buying books from there and guess what Ive taken up 2 shelf, 1 storage box and a bag of books stuff in my closet :)

Roti Jala (aka roti kirai)

Well it' second day of Ramadhan. The eve of ramadhan, I told Yasmine that if she fulfill the full day fasting, I'll top up her daily allowance.... and to my surprise she did and so did Irfan.

Hmmm... Roti jala (not sure why its called "roti"..... means bread)... I would rather call it pan cake pastry stuff. Or should it be renamed... Lempeng Jala... :) oh what ever. Anyway this is Yasmine favourite's, today when she saw me doing it.... she suddenly asked if she could break her fast.....? Saw this unique style of Jalar...ing, at a "kenduri" the other day so I thought I give it a try.

Check it out this is my new found "luv". You need a good flat pan to do this..... guess what, kind HB bought a German made flat pan for me from Metro.... he said it was about $60++. He said that since he likes pancakes... so he bought it.

Recipe from my mum 50 yrs old cookbook:
500 gm of plain flour
650 gm of water
1 egg
a pinch of salt
1 teaspoon of alkaline water
Hand whisk all in and mix well, you are ready to Jala or do the netting.
So this is what for 2nd day Ramadhan's break fast.... peeps.

Volvo Birthday Cake

Hey peeps.... happy long weekend and National Day...
Just like to share this week's 3D cake, originally the cake was planned for 3kg, however I had to tier up 4 layers of the choc moist cake to achieve the height. Took me the whole night carving and decorate it.

So I use to say before if you can afford a real car.... you still can afford a car cake :)
